Wish there was more games that featured what this one does, modular board, action point allowanace gameplay, with in-game risk factors (dice roll elements via the governor, the smuggler, and market tiles). This has quickly shot up to the top of my personal best-of list. Only complaint is it's not weighty enough, but it does keep the interest of my wife and would be a game I would introduce to others.Tyler Armstronghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15299657145622925972noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6829360209113689355.post-62424028030559328762014-06-27T06:12:17.291-07:002014-06-27T06:12:17.291-07:00I'm of Asian descent, and I kind of hate (and ...I'm of Asian descent, and I kind of hate (and kind of love) the title and art for the upcoming Madame Ching, so I definitely see where you guys are coming from.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07333916699033405370noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6829360209113689355.post-29049215950492975072014-06-20T13:10:13.806-07:002014-06-20T13:10:13.806-07:00Thanks for the insight Phoenix!

I don't know I'm terrible with history. Either way, I assumed the game wasn't representing present day Turkey/Istanbul, but thanks very much for confirming that!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07333916699033405370noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6829360209113689355.post-35253392976138669182014-06-20T08:44:42.021-07:002014-06-20T08:44:42.021-07:00Agreed, Phoenix. Games like this, Arabian Nights, and even this upcoming one from Days of Wonder (http://geekdad.com/2014/06/five-tribes-announce/) need to be more critical in how they're representing different cultures and races and not default to time-tested caricatures.Tyler Glodjohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09902848124581328502noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6829360209113689355.post-29794178100550258462014-06-20T08:00:47.081-07:002014-06-20T08:00:47.081-07:00Phoenix: You are completely ruining my view of the...Phoenix: You are completely ruining my view of the world! :)

James: Great review, between Rahdo and this I think I must get this game.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08575710623375218913noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6829360209113689355.post-12010007475741036302014-06-20T04:35:28.808-07:002014-06-20T04:35:28.808-07:00Please note that, while I share your enthusiasm wi...Please note that, while I share your enthusiasm with the game, the theme has nothing to do with real Istanbul. We do have the Bazaar with lots of spices and trading (and tourist traps) but we don't deal in gems and the men don't wear "sarık" (the headpiece in the cover).
Phoenixhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15941653042322725597noreply@blogger.com
