They have, however, come up with a similar game (not sure if it plays similarly) called Campaign Manager 2008 which is Obama v. McCain. Twilight Struggle is a great 2 player game (if you like the Cold War), and I'd highly recommend it. I noticed that Amazon had stupidly high prices on it, though ($200), so I assume its between print runs. You might try Noble Knight Games for a better price (see link in the "Support the Site" section to the right of the screen.Joshhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14011225292134198772noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6829360209113689355.post-11543405819002840402011-05-02T10:40:22.443-07:002011-05-02T10:40:22.443-07:00So, I haven't played this game but it looks in...So, I haven't played this game but it looks interesting and I already have some comments just reading the review. One somewhat rare quality in this game is that it is a two-player board game. There are lots of two-player card games or tile/chip games and some board games can be adapted to fit as low as two players but few are designed to be only two-players these days (at least in my observations). While this isn't necessarily a strength or weakness persay it is somewhat unique and so might be worth having to diversify a collection.

As for Twilight Struggle I saw it on amazon and noticed it's 2 player also but much much more expensive, I don't want to diversify my collection that bad.

As for the missed opportunity mentioned earlier I'd say that just opens up the possibility of a series where you can buy other The Making of the President games from other years and maintain historical accuracy and then buy expansion packs to play hypothetical games of Kennedy vs. Regan using 2008 technology or something like that. So if anybody reading this is from this game's design and marketing department... get on that. :)

Again I haven't played this one yet so take that into proper consideration.John Thttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07528379986697467741noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6829360209113689355.post-19101054807448920882011-04-24T11:27:43.515-07:002011-04-24T11:27:43.515-07:00What an interesting game... thanks for sharing. I know what you're saying on the cards - Kennedy's cards seem to help more in the Midwest and South, Nixon has several cards that help in the West. Also, they seem to be slightly better at different issues. I was more thinking it would be cool for them to possibly have a one per game event or something. Possibly having an event on the candidate cards that you could play that is different between Nixon and Kennedy. Either way, not really a big con, just something I would have liked to have been added.Joshhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14011225292134198772noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6829360209113689355.post-33866011302787551422011-03-11T19:36:29.939-08:002011-03-11T19:36:29.939-08:00Very nice review of one of my favorite games!
...Very nice review of one of my favorite games!

The only rebuttal I'd offer about the candidates feeling different is that I think those differences are sort of programmed into their event cards. That's just how card-driven games do it.Chris Norwoodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12383357790853580688noreply@blogger.com
